Malteser Crunchies
9ozs Digestive Biscuits
4ozs Margarine
6ozs Milk Chocolate
2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
1 Egg, beaten
5ozs White Chocolate
8ozs Maltesers (leave 10 for topping)
Crush biscuits. Melt margarine, milk chocolate and syrup over a low heat. Add beaten egg and simmer for 1 minute. Mix in crushed biscuits and whole Maltesers. Press mixture into a Swiss roll tin and leave to cool. Melt white chocolate and spread over biscuit mixture. Crush remaining Maltesers and sprinkle over the white chocolate. Leave in the fridge to set. Cut into squares after ½ an hour, but before the mixture has set.
This is very sweet so cut into small squares

That’s what I call a ‘wicked’ recipe!
It’s enough to make any malteser fan go weak at the knees 😀
p.s. Your fan club here have put in a request for another main course recipe sometime?
Steph,
This one was to sweeten the blow and take away the taste of last weeks liver!
I am trying to have sweet and savoury week about, so watch out next Monday.
Yummmm, my favourite desserts are the melting and assembling type, so I’ll definitely be trying this.
Fantastic. Why margarine though? Why not butter? You can taste when it’s margarine, it’s just not the same…
I do a simple biscuit cake, just with drinking chocolate and rich tea, and it’s divine!! I nearly had to check in to biscuit cake rehab when I was making it for the stall. I tried a posh version wiht Green and Black’s and fruit and stuff, nowhere near as nice!
Maz ~ They taste very more-ish! Make sure to let them set well before serving, perhaps overnight.
Jo ~ you can use butter if you wish. I grew up using Marg for baking, nowadays I use a soya marg. The only exceptions are shortbread and Christmas Cake they must have butter.
Grannymar, I have to admit, I usually click past your recipes. But this one, I will make! 🙂
Darren you will have to prove it by taking a picture and posting it up!

You can’t throw the maltesers over the balcony at the cinema after tis recipe. Well I suppose you could……
BTW do you put rice f lour in your shortbread?
Magpie! My mother brought me up to be a lady…… well she tried, alas it didn’t work. I wouldn’t waste maltesers throwing them over any balcony, they all went in my mouth!
Shortbread I associate with Christmastime so you will have to wait until then for the recipe.
The short answer is No to rice flour.
