Size

My sky at sunset taken almost a year ago today.

God gives us dreams a size too big so that we can grow in them. ~ Anonymous

I am hoping the ‘big’ leg I have grown into this week soon goes back to its normal size! πŸ˜†

    Well, just stick to instructions…

I have not seen birds lined up like that for many a year …. I don’t think I have seen swallows or house martins for thirty years or more.

Swifts are our Swallow like birds in the city (Swallows and Swifts are not related) In one area I know there used to be thirty to forty pair wheeling in the sky up until 1993, when the Church of St George burned down. (as result of a fire set by locals). The modern replacement does not provide the nesting places that the old one did.

Now the largest number of pairs is fout. They nest iin the roof spces of old houses nearby.

    Grannymar,

I’m having difficulty trying to imagine you as a ‘big leg’ πŸ™„

But if you get a ‘big head’…

Don’t worry, we’ll soon let you know πŸ˜‰

    Grannymar,

I am sorry to inform you that in the event that your “Big Leg” does not return to it’s normal thin size, we will have to disqualify you from participating in the 3 legged bag race at our annual picnic this year. Sorry!

Your “Big Leg” soon will be thinner than your other leg because you won’t be using it as much. The muscles shrink. Then when it matches the other leg in size, you’ve MAKE IT– YEA!

    Hello Steph,

First, I’m delighted to have my old sparring partner back. I missed you.

In a 3 legged bag race all entrants line up in pairs.

Each pair stands side by side with their partner and the one on the right puts her left leg in a burlap bag. Then the one on the left puts her right leg in the same bag. Now they only have 3 legs because two of their legs are in the bag and they each have one leg and the legs in the bag make the third leg.

Now all these pairs are lined up side by side and they have to run to the finish line as fast as they can. The first pair to break the tape wins! Got it?

Now you can easily understand why we would have to disqualify GM if her leg was still fat. She would have an advantage over the others and that just wouldn’t be fair. Also, she has a new hip and the other contestants would have to compete with her on their old hips. Does that sound fair to you?

Now I will explain baseball to you and you can explain cricket to me.

The three legged race will have to wait until next week! πŸ˜‰ Being able to get in and out of bed unaided seems like a miracle. Slow, slow work, but worth it.

Grannymar, see what happens when you get your “hips” adjusted”, you may need your your computer adjusted. Well computer-mind, not sure. We will have to wait to see how BHB turns out.

Kidding aside, I had swelling for months and my feet and ankles still swell at times. I couldn’t get my shoes on for about two months after surgery, but I am sure you will do better. My swelling may be caused by something else, but it started when I had hip replacement. I think your leg will return to normal much quicker than mine did.

Don’t avoid the exercises as they will help with your recovery. Keep up the good work so we can do the can-can with bikehikebabe.

The large leg is a novelty especially as the multi-coloured pattern changes day by day. Elly is having fun laughing at her lob-sided mother.

Hopefully with each new day the concentration will improve and allow me to catch up on all the blog posts from last week. It is good to be back.

It’s wonderful having you back, Grannymar. I am happy that you are doing so well and are keeping your sense of humor. Obviously you are able to find the funny side of discomfort.

Darlene – It is good to be home, simple things like a shower and hairwash make me feel so much better. I am getting in and out of bed unaided and dressing myself. Independence here I come!
