The party’s over
But I’m still singing that song…
They tried, they tried very hard to tell us that blogging was dead. The mourners gathered. The funeral was held, There was a respectful silence
And…
Then the Party that is The Irish Blog Awards began! What a night. Once again I am leaving, not on a jet plane, but with a heavy heart. Why? Because I must go home without all my friends, old and new and return to Co Antrim. Pity they would not all fit in my little house. Now there’s an idea. If I add on a little extension to my house we could hold IBA 2011 in Co Antrim. What do you think?
The whole day was wonderful.. and I do have tales to tell, but tummy talks… well shouts right now for food.
You want an inkling?
Ok, ok! We had
Tea
Booze
Cake
Beauty
Baths
Corsets
Wine
Coffins
More Booze
Hugs
and best of all Really great people. I have no voice left today and my arms ache from all the hugging.
More later. It is the morning after and I need my food and my pills 😉
Photos to follow [at a price 😉 ]
Corsets??????????
Did you win?
Baths and Corsets?! What on earth have you been getting up to GM?!!
Corsets? Coffins? What event was this, again? The undertakers’ annual convention?
Sounds like a fun time, I’m very jealous, and sorry I couldn’t make it to Galway.
Rhyleysgranny – Yes! A real one.
Geri – Up to or into? 🙄
Nick – The Undertakers did make an appearance!
Cathy – You missed a great night.
Grannymar
Aaw! Sounds like great fun was had.
Can’t wait for the pics!
I hope you didn’t miss breakfast ‘cos the clocks changed?
Awesome. Can’t wait to see the pics.
You must have had a ball! Looking forward to the photos.
I heard you took off your corset and jumped into the coffin. What some do for attention never fails to gobsmack me.
XO
WWW
Steph – You were missed. Were yours ears hot? That was cause everyone sent hugs. So catch…..
Baino – They are coming!
Judy – It was a fun day and night. For the first time in years I was up when the clocks sprang forward!
WWW – I did jump in at the deep end… but of what and when you will find out later…. maybe Tuesday.
Great meeting you in Galway Grannymar..you are even madder than I thought you’d be…but in a good way 🙂
Marie – It was great to finally meet you and thanks for the compliment. 😀
Hurry up with the pictures. I shall pay whatever the price!!
Glad you had a good time. Sad that a fluff ?blog? won best blog. There are so many terrific Irish blogs and to give the big win to them just chaps my hide.
Looking forward to your speedy recovery and the pics.
Ramana – The pictures are coming….. soon!
Brighid – Beaut.ie have an amazing following to their blog, forum and to the sales of their book. The girls found a niche and filled it, they have worked mighty hard over the years to build it up to the business level it is today. Not everyone is prepared to give the time necessary to achieve this. The Grand Prix Award is not by nomination but selected from the winners of each category, so there were only 21 blogs eligible for the title.
There were 20 other choices for the Grand Prix Award! Twenty that had to be of more merit than a fluff beauty ?blog?. How shallow can things get. In my humble opinion, I really don’t agree with their choice.
Great to meet you again and good to see you looking so well. Next time we will chat longer, but standing beside the loudspeaker meant I only picked half of the conversation. My hearing, like your Old hip isn’t what it used to be.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures, the world wide web is awash with images of Grannymar in a bath with no water in it and ……… I’ll let you explain yourself.
Grannymar,
Are you still boozing? I presume you meant my ears 🙄
Thanks! I’m positively glowing all over now 😀
p.s. I saw you in the bath!!!
Brighid – The points gained at each stage of the nominations and judging will have had a bearing on the final result.
Fran – Fran it was good to talk. I too am having problems with my left ear. We will just have to get on the right side of each other in future. 😉
Steph – I did mean your ears. Bath? What bath?
For how long have you been blogging?
Sounds like great fun was held by all. How many people were in attendance?
Marianna – I began blogging in September 2006 as a guinea pig for a talk about ‘getting granny podcasting’. Back in thoise days a blog post might have been four lines!
For the Blog awards 350 registered and over 300 attended. The Ladies Tea Party is a smaller event held in a hotel suite so numbers are set at forty. So the first forty ladies to register are the lucky ones. Another event happens as part of the day – A photo-walk where any blogger with a camera can join the group as they explore a pre suggested area. I would love to attend that, but need to save my energy 🙄 for later in the day!
