Our Loose Blogging consortium of Anu, Ashok, Conrad, Gaelikaa, Ginger, Judy, Magpie 11, Maria,Ramana and I, well those of us not on holiday or distracted by the calls of work, study or family concerns, turn our thoughts to the topic for the week, chosen today by Maria or should that be Judy?
If I could be anything, I would be…
I wish I was a Teddy
Sitting on the bed
Waiting for my Elly
To lay down her weary head
I’d listen very carefully
As she told me all the tales
Of plays and books and games
That filled her busy days
I’d snuggle in beside her
And share secrets great and small
As we drifted off to dreamland
All cosy snug and warm
We would waken in the morning
All wet hot from the heat
I’d watch as she prepared for school
Then on the pillow sit and wait –
And wait a little longer
until I heard that sound
The pit-ter-pat of little feet that told me
My Elly was on home ground.
That is fantastic Grannymar. Did you compose the poem?
This captures a mother’s feeling so well. I went to a school recital last night to see granddaughter perform in a little play. There was a little girl on the first row that reminded me so much of her mother (daughter #1) that I felt so wistful and wondered where that little child went? I still miss her although I’m proud of the woman she’s become.
Ramana – 😆 It is all my own work! 😆
Alice – Welcome back! It is wonderful to have you playing amongst us again. You were really missed. My thoughts are willing you well.
Lovely, GM.
Thank you.

Very very cute and sweet!
And is that your teddy or is he Googled? I never had a teddy when I was young, no idea why, my parents never bought me one and I never asked for one. Obviously I never felt the need for a furry sleeping companion.
Aw, GM! You have the most eloquent heart.
What a sweet poem and Elly must treasure it.
WWW – I have a very long way to go to reach your standard!
Mayo – Just like my Elly!
Nick – That is my teddy sitting on my bed. I never had a teddy either as a child. This one is so soft and cuddly.
Conrad – Thank you! Good to have you back among us again.
Judy – I have not talked to her today, no doubt I will hear what she thinks tomorrow.
That was a treat! I loved it!
All I can say is awww, Elly is very lucky to have you as a mother 🙂
Ashok – I enjoy being Elly’s mother.
