That WAS a sobering reflection. I think all too often we just accept what is presented, especially in the tourist industry, without thinking it through. I suppose seeing a piece of history like this makes us feel good that it didn’t happen to us (or for most of us anyone we knew) and assume things were learned from it that will prevent future tragedies. But in reality, we know there will always be another Titanic on some level or other.
