100 g short pastry

For the Filling:
50g caster sugar
50g ground almonds

Roll out the pastry thinly and cut into 7.5 cm rounds. Line the base of paper bun cases with the pastry and set into patty tins. Place a little jam on the centre of each pastry base.

    Grannymar,

This is a new one on me. I have heard of “Buns of Steel” but never “Almond Buns”..

It doesn’t matter anyway because I can’t make them
today. I don’t have any “Short” pastry, only the long kind and I have a #2 egg but I am all out of #3s.

Sorry, better luck with next week’s recipe…

I’m not sure about the jam on my “buns”, but the hot weather were are presently having, cooling them on a wire rack sounds inviting.

Nancy – I like the sound of long pastry. You really must share the recipe with us. I bet Mayo would love to make it.

Mayo – Go easy on those buns, sunburn can be very painful!
