The world is full of doom and gloom:
- The world is ending…
- Global warming is upon us….
- Food costs are escalating….
- Fuel for heating is running out….
- Pensioners are living far too long…
- The world is full of scroungers…
- Bankers are all thieves…..
- Politicians are vile people….
Take your pick out of that bunch of sweeties, I’ll stick with a boiled egg and some soldiers.
“Don’t let negative and toxic people rent space in your head.
Raise the rent and kick them out!”
– Robert Tew
Our topic Doom & Gloom was chosen for us today by Padmini, I wonder how she will deal with it? Now I suggest you trickle along to see what the other active members have to share on the subject this week: Anu, Delirious, Maxi, Maria/Gaelikaa, Maria SilverFox, OCD writer, Padmum, Paul, Ramana, Rohit Shackman speaks, The Old Fossil, Will Knott.
“Raise the rent and kick them out”. That’s the spirit, Grannymar.
I have had occasion before to observe you showing true compassion for the unfortunate. Why not snuggle up to Oscar Wilde in the gutter and gaze at the stars? He might even lend you his coat.
U
I have followed your instructions Grannymar!
Ursula – I have no desire to snuggle up to anyone in a gutter, my winter coat keeps me plenty warm, thank you.
Ramana – Which instructions were they?
Love this post. I’m with ya, GM. Great quote by Robert Tew.
Blessings ~ Maxi
I doubt when the sky really does fall it will hurt much.
And there’s nothing we can do about it anyway apart from take care of our own patch.

The media is full of doom-laden predictions, but a good half of them turn out to be either exaggerations or total nonsense. Best to take them all with a grain of salt and pour yourself a generous glass of wine.
Maxi – I only read that quote this morning and thought it would be suitable for the post today.
shackman – I am sure I’ll be well gone when the sky falls in.
WWW – So true.
Nick – Now that sounds like a good idea.
Sometimes those people can be hard to evict. Still worth doing it though I think.
I love that quote about “renting space in your head”. I totally agree!
Okay I am stymied by” Boiled eggs and soldiers”, but if you are sticking with them, I will definitely join you.
Why raise the rent! Keep it unoccupied and enjoy your space!! Lovely blog and I am not going to praise you for you know–you may get a ‘…..’ head!! Ha, ha!
Wait just a minute, Grannymar..Don’t be so quick saying you have no desire to snuggle up with anyone in a gutter.
I would snuggle up with George Clooney or Brad Pitt ANYWHERE! How about you?
BWT – Too true. As my late mother-in-law used to say: ‘They stick like S&^t to a blanket’!
Delores – It was a new one to me.
Maria SF – In this case the Soldiers are fingers of toast.
Padmini – Please don’t. A ‘…..’ head would only make more space for someone to invade! 😆
Nancy – Well now…. If I were to snuggle up with George Clooney, I would expect him to provide a comfortable couch. This gal has her standards, you know!! 😉
There is plenty of negativity going around and it is catching! I try not to pass it on and start an epidemic! Good thoughts here.
The Hub always tells me, ‘Turn a negative into a positive.’ We try to live by that.
Debra – Too right about the negativity, and I try hard to keep away from it.
Tilly – Your hubby is a wise man!
Raise the rent and kick them out!”
Ramana – Good for you!
I just recently decided that “shouldering a pile” of uncompleted things, ideas not moved along and such like things that had to be dealt with…of course, some of the pile will never move off the shoulder or the should -do-[er] pile but it’s fun trying…
Cathy – Good luck with the “shouldering”.
I decided to chuck off the idea of trying to do always what I “should do” and do instead what I want to do. You sleep better that way. I’m glad I stopped by to catch up today. This post resonated.
Alice – I’m glad it did!
