Easter Greetings

Easter

The air is like a butterfly
With frail blue wings.
The happy earth looks at the sky
And sings.
~ by Joyce Kilmer

Not this year, Joyce. It has been the worst Month of March, weather wise, since the year I was born. On the raido a short while ago, we were warned that April will prove very cruel for wildlife.  There is hope at the end of the tunnel – or maybe it is a tease – May will bring a Heatwave!!!

Happy Easter To Everyone

The sky is light
The hills are white,
The air is cold
but my heart is bright,
E&G I will see you tonight.

“A true friend is someone who thinks you are a good egg
even though they know you are slightly cracked.”

    Yes I am slightly cracked. Was Joyce Kilmer Irish? I memorized his poems when I was younger….Prayer of a Soldier in France, for example. At the least he must have been Catholic. Dianne

    Happy Easter to you Grannymar. Kilmer was American and died and was buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery and Memorial in France. I memorized a lot of his poems in grammar school too.

    gigi – Enjoy the day with your aunt.

    Dianne – Joyce Kilmer (1886–1918) was American. I remember my father singing along to this poem:

    Trees

    I THINK that I shall never see
    A poem lovely as a tree.

    A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
    Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;

    A tree that looks at God all day, 5
    And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

    A tree that may in summer wear
    A nest of robins in her hair;

    Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
    Who intimately lives with rain. 10

    Poems are made by fools like me,
    But only God can make a tree.

    Celia – Thank you and many happy returns to you.

    Hope yours was a good day. We had a beautiful morning, then thunderstorms in the afternoon. I love thunder boomers, only two of the grand kids got that gene… Take care!
