Puppy Love, was a popular song written by Paul Anka in 1960 for Annette Funicello, whom he was dating at the time. Twelve years later it was revived by Donny Osmond.
Puppy Love is often described as a young love infatuation similar to a crush. It is often one sided and not reciprocated. I was never a slushy crushy person. For a relationship to work in my book, it has to a 50/50 total respect.
I am reminded of a Robert Brault quote:
I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar.
My real puppy love is this little scallywag:
The topic this week for our LBC members (you will find their links in the sidebar) was dreamed up by Ramana I look forward to discovering the angle on Puppy Love that they each write about.
LOL – great minds think alike Marie.
So I see!, You Chuck, won on the music scale!
Alas, Buffy lives 125 miles away from me in my daughter’s house. I am told that when she hears my voice on speaker phone, she goes looking all around the room to find where I am hiding!
In India, that 50/50 has been adopted in all local languages as phiphty phiphty!
It is a tough topic to write on. I don’t know why I chose it. When I saw it on the list I groaned!
You have done it more justice than I have.
We covered the same ground in a slightly different way!
Rummy, just write about your feelings for the Irish Queen!
Mayoe, I didn’t know he was that way inclined! 😉
Sweet pup! Love that little round tummy.
Happy Roundy Birthday, Al! Buffy is a neat little bundle with no excess weight. She thinks if she stands over the ball that I cannot get it!
I think there’s a difference between puppy love, which is an infatuation based on a totally unrealistic view of the person as perfect and flawless, and a crush, which takes account of the person’s imperfections while still being besotted with them (but not getting any reciprocal interest). I’ve only had one serious crush in my life, which was exactly like that.
Nick, I suppose I cannot really comment, since I never felt either and can only go by what I have read.or heard about.
Gorgeous pics of your pup!
Buffy is my daughter’s dog, and the photos were gathered over the three years of her life.
Love the puppies, indeed.
Also, I look back nostalgically to the days when, as a very young only child, I had this sugar-and-spice idea about all girlkind, and fell in love with, to worship from afar, a series of pretty little girls. I had dreams of rescuing them from all sorts of dangers, and I well remember the ecstacy when one or another of them actually smiled at me!
Unfortunately I saw life in the raw from a very early age, so dreams and crushes were not part of my young life.
I need a puppy!
I bet you miss your dog.
Dogs. I can’t live without them and my current boy…Johnny is the best. Love them. Dianne
I don’t have a dog of my own, but borrow Buffy when I go to Elly’s.
