An older gentleman was on the operating table awaiting surgery and he insisted that his son, a renowned surgeon, perform the operation.
As he was about to get the anesthesia, he asked to speak to his son.
“Yes, Dad, what is it?”
“Don’t be nervous, son; do your best, and just remember, if it doesn’t go well, if something happens to me, your mother is going to come and live with you and your wife….”

For all the money in the world, I cannot remember which old man sent this one to me! 😉
Grannymar, that dad’s words might backfire badly. I do know sons who adore their mothers, I do know daughters-in-law who adore their husband’s mother. On the other hand, the curmudgeon? Well, let’s hope he woke up again … in one piece.

I was not fortunate to know my inlaws, I do think I was the loser!
I wouldn’t have been able to even pick up the scalpel.
A big responsibility, I am sure my hands would have been like jelly/jello.
The son’s hands were probably shaking so much he botched the operation. 😉
Nancy, filleting a fish would be surgery enough for me!
Having just become a father in law, I plead not guilty.
We will let you away with it for now!
But no pressure! 🙂 I loved my mother-in-law, and miss her terribly! I was really lucky, I think.
You were a fortunate daughter in law! I would have loved to have met and known my mother and father in law.
