Sunday one liners ~ 21

If at first you don’t succeed, do it like your mother TOLD you!

Did I use this one before? If so, it shows I listened to my mother…. sometimes! 😉

Loved this. Sounds just like something my mother would have said to me. Growing up, when she told me to do something and I asked why I had to do it, all I would ever get was “cause Momma says’!

I still hear Mammy’s voice in my head and looking down at my hands when baking, it is hers that I see!

You have shared it before, GM. And I still don’t agree with the sentiment. Mom’s advice suited her and many others. But it didn’t suit me.

Nancy, I was not sure when I scheduled this post, but stuck for time, I let it go. Most of the time, Mammy’s way was good, but on occasions she would ask how I would go about a task.

I got curious to see what I said before . . . so I went and found the post:

        http://grannymar.com/2014/01/05/sunday-one-liners-11/

        And my comment:

Mom shared both good and bad advice ~ the good advice I’ve tried to hang on to. The rest I ignore. 😛

        That’s still true!

And I understand the “stuck for time” sentiment behind this post. At the moment, the projects that I want to work on keep getting sidelined by other stuff. It’s a wonder we ever found the time to get done all that we’ve gotten done.

Nancy, I think I had fingers in too many pies last week. A little reorganization might be in order.

Ha! A laugh out loud moment there, Grannymar. I never did do what my mother told me; and now I tell my daughter to do things in a vain effort to save her effort, and she never takes the advice, Plus ca change….

Kate, when you tell your daughter to do as you say, can you hear your mother’s voice?
