Q: What did you do before we had the internet?
A: All the things I do now without worrying about losing a broadband connection.
How about you?

A: All the things I do now without worrying about losing a broadband connection.
How about you?
All the things I do now, without worrying about the connection, looking at fluffy kittens, reading self-help quotes, hearing about celeb gaffes, and a hundred other things I could easily live without but I keep tripping over them on the way to what I’m actually looking for….
I’m grand so long as I remember what I am looking for! 😉
Actually many things that I do not do now. Like long walks, clubbing, long drives and so on.
I am living in hope of being allowed to drive again soon. That would open the way to short and long drives, days away to explore and use the camera and have a wider variety of walks.
Worked (not now), watched TV (very little now), read books (at a slower pace now) and a number of other things that I still do, but differently.
I disposed of my television before I got a computer, I know I spent more time at needlework, but with ageing the normal chores of running a house single handed seems to eat away at my time.
I think I should have a 1 week internet fast . . . to see how bad the withdrawal is.
A few months ago, I pulled back on my internet use and never really went back to the way I did in the past. The computer may be open but I am not always on the net.
I can’t imagine life without the Internet. How boring that would be.
It certainly opened many new channels for all of us.
Same things I do now only more of them. However, I am reading more, getting out more, and visiting more than I have in the last few years. Could it be not the internet but because I dropped my television connection. No TV here without it.
I disposed of my TV about fifteen years ago and never missed it. Mind you, when we did have television, I often sat working with some needlework while the sound was on in the background,
I wrote many letters by hand. My old Aunts don’t like modern gizmos. I babysat my granddaughters who all have their own iPhones these days (and are grown). If I want to know what’s going on with them,I look them up on Facebook. I gardened…still do. David and I waked and biked…a lot. Less so these days with arthritic joints. And so forth…
Needle crafts, amateur dramatics, walking, working and household chores filled my time with a few movies, dress dances (for which the needle crafts played a part) were thrown in for good measure.
I did pottery and loved it. Now, my blog takes up a lot of time and I enjoy that very much. I’m learning new things like taking pictures and writing, something I didn’t do before my blog.
Yes, blogging opened many doors for me: pod casting, making mini videos and working with the camera, mind you I am still learning. Pottery is one craft I fancied but never had the opportunity to try out, it might have to sleep with the dream of building a Kit Car! 🙁
I was busy inventing it.
Yours truly,
Al Gore
Good for you Al G!
I did a lot more outernet things. No TV for me for the last four years and that has been nice. Trying to cut down on the internet time so I can once again do more outernet things.
I still do plenty of outernet things, but hope to be able to do more in the near future.
