Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

I was called an alley cat yesterday by a charming lady with great affection. I wonder how that will turn my life around!
I bet you enjoyed being called that.
It’s great when we can make someone’s day . . . including our own.
When you live alone, you gotta make your own fun and laughter. I try to surprise someone everyday with a smile, either in the now or virtually.
Making people smile is our good deed for the day!
🙂
Lovely thought. Yes, I wish we all could touch someone’s heart.
Yes, it is so easy….. a smile or kind word are no good until we give them away!
More than worth the effort, no end of lonely or discouraged people out there.
We don’t know the half of it. A smile never goes astray.
We are probably only aware of 1% of the times we touch someone’s life, but being nice is its own reward anyway.
Al, It is so much easier to be nice, than nasty.
Power of positive thinking. It works!
Dianne, I agree 100%!
I thought about this today. The woman next door , who has lived next to us for 25 years does not speak (long story). Her boys were born and grew up in this home. The oldest boy is going to college next fall. Almost every day, a few years ago, he came into my yard chasing his ball which came over the fence. I always said hello to him and he to me.
Over the years, I had discussions with him about birds and things. This past winter, every time it snowed he cleaned off our cars and cleared the sidewalks (without asking). Such small things, but I do believe this kid will do well I life.
He sounds like a fine young man!
I remember him on TV about 35 (?) years ago. He used to rave about his mother’s kitchen and the atmosphere there.

Yes,he described his mother as ‘wild’ compared to his very serious father. Do you remember the story of the coat?
Yes, I think he wore handmedowns from his sister, they were quite poor and newly emigrated to US. I must look it up 😀

He had to wear his sister’s coat with a fur or velvet collar, to school.
Without you my display wouldn’t get cleaned as often as it does.
Chuck, at least I am good for something! 😆
