Sunday One liners ~ 27

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

When you live alone, you gotta make your own fun and laughter. I try to surprise someone everyday with a smile, either in the now or virtually.

We are probably only aware of 1% of the times we touch someone’s life, but being nice is its own reward anyway.

I thought about this today. The woman next door , who has lived next to us for 25 years does not speak (long story). Her boys were born and grew up in this home. The oldest boy is going to college next fall. Almost every day, a few years ago, he came into my yard chasing his ball which came over the fence. I always said hello to him and he to me.

Over the years, I had discussions with him about birds and things. This past winter, every time it snowed he cleaned off our cars and cleared the sidewalks (without asking). Such small things, but I do believe this kid will do well I life.

He had to wear his sister’s coat with a fur or velvet collar, to school.
