There have been times when I gladly put my needs in second place, in order to help others. Nowadays I am not so generous, I must put my own health issues first.
Nice quote and I think if you don’t take care of yourself too you end up not being able to take care of anyone else. Sort of like a savings account you have put something in so as to be able to give something out.
Short? Not really. My thumbs do not reach the first knuckle when my hands are stretched. bent over a box, the thumb nail just appears over the edge. Mind you my hands are bent and shorter than the Sculptors.
Grannymar, if whatever I do does not give ME happiness, I should not do it. Not sometimes but never. If I am happy, my happiness spreads. If I am unhappy that too spreads. Which should I be spreading?
Difficult one, Grannymar. I can only reconcile the thought behind your quote that, sometimes, to put yourself first is the best for ‘everyone else’.

Ursula, Everyone has their own interpretation of these quotes.
I would change the “sometimes” to always. But that’s just me.

Great quote!
It seemed right for me this week.
Like the sculpture. Like the thought.
I have seen several pieces of Enda’s work, this is my favourite.

I am learning to think before offering help, these days.
Why sometimes? I would say, always. If you do that, it will automatically become the best for everyone else in your life.
You mean be selfish, think of myself and ignore everyone else?
The “hand book” is fabulous! And that quote is worth contemplating, too! Hope you have a lovely week, GM!
I see some blue in the sky outside and no rain so far 🙂 I will enjoy my walk this morning.
The thumb looks a little bit short.

I was not thinking of happiness. I meant helping others who are in Real need, not the folks who moan and cry without taking steps to help themselves.
