The days may be damp and dreary outside, but I am clickity-click happy indoors!
You might remember this Green shrug.
It began as a rectangle, 38 x 44 inches. When completed the fabric was folded in half with the cast-on edge and bound off edge meeting so that it then measured 38 x 22 inches/96.5 x 56 cm).
I placed markers on each of the 22 in. (56 cm) sides, 7 in. (18 cm) below the fold, for armholes. The remainder of the side seams from marker down to lower edge were stitched before weaving in the thread ends ends.
That was it complete.
That shrug was so cosy, I made it for my sister. Since I had more of the yarn in a different colour-way, I decided to make one for myself. I wanted it to look different, Dressing as twins was not our idea of fun.
This time round I made a larger rectangle, folded it as above, left a seven inch opening for the arms and stitched the remaining seams. I had an idea inside my head from the very first stitch, still there, it will not let go. I needed to change the shape by folding and stitching.
It is still a work in progress but some of the ideas are decided on and I know how the front will look.
The front is working out like the image in my head.
Now for the hard work…
I have got this far:
You are so talented.
Dianne, I see it as fun.
fabulous – how inventive…going to look dashing in that. Then your sister will want one 🙂
It is like a puzzle to me and I am having fun.
That looks comfy and cozy and creative and fun!
Once I have it finished, I may not want to take it off.
As grand a way to have fun as any that I know of. Have lots of it.
This way Ramana, I usually have something to show for it at the end.
We never know what you will come up with next G. – and its always a pleasure to find out as well 🙂
Cathy
Cathy, sometimes, I don’t know what I will come up with next! Craft work, keeps my mind and hands busy.It is not all sitting about, I need to go shopping for bits and pieces and as in this case, I am moving around as I fold and pin, or sew while standing.
I also find having a task in hand, makes me clear up the boring chores quickly, in order to have plenty of time for play!
What a fantastic idea. Loved the top one but I think I love yours more, of course yellow is also my favourite colour. 🙂 Laura
The colours are delicate, random shades of white and lime in the first one, the finished item reminded me of a a frozen daiquiri. The piece I am working on now, the stretches of yellow and white seem longer and more pronounced when knitted, than they look in the skein. I want to finish it before the really cold weather arrives.
Both look comfy and cozy.
The green one is, I tried it after I gave it to my sister. The yellow was cosy on my knees while I was knitting the basic shape.
I am so impressed with the way you conceptualize and then just go to town! What a wonderful way to spend a cold and drizzly day! Lovely work, Marie!
Debra, as I said to someone a few years ago: Some people use a pen, the stitches are my words. You might enjoy one of my early Craft posts, I am not sure you were following at the time:

I’m so far away from my knitting skills that I can’t understand how you’re doing that “wrap”.
I knit a rectangle, the rest is shaping and moulding. It is as yet unfinished… far too many interruptions for me to concentrate, but I will get back to it soon.
You are amazing!!!
Some people read books, others like jigsaws or crosswords… I don’t like to utter a cross word! 😉 I enjoy playing with craft work!
