Cathy, there were many folk in my young life who tried to make me feel inferior and worthless but I stood up for myself. It certainly toughened me up for life. Nowadays, I refuse to allow anyone walk on me!
So true, Didn’t realize this when I was young. Still, so glad the light came on as I matured. Think we are the same GM, not intimidated by anyone.

Eleanor probably learned this the hard way. Even though from a privileged family, she was insecure and starved for affection as a child and, once married, had an overbearing mother-in-law.
This saying is so true. The Roosevelts TV series was excellent. What Mike says was Eleanor. She got her confidence when she came out of her shell & had her own crusade for Women’s Rights.
All very well in principle Gm – trouble is it often depends on your mood and who the other person is

Most never realize the truth of this.

Mike, I think most of us learned it the hard way, When young, I was often told I had a chip on my shoulder because I stood up for myself so much!

BHB, we should not need to come out of a shell, Respect from the word go, would negate the feelings of inferiority.
Good share. Her words are wise.
“When we have conquered the enemy within . . . there are no enemies left to conquer.”
I am fond of Eleanor’s quotes and this time I mean ER and not my Eleanor!…. Maybe it goes with the name, my Elly is full of confidence.
Yes, it is entirely voluntary.
Some people seem to thrive by moaning about how everyone walks on them, when all they nee to do is stand up for themselves, or…. walk away!
Ramana, in this context, ‘walks on them’ does not mean your masseur!
