Hibernating

View from my window

View from my window

This was the view from my bedroom window yesterday morning, Can anyone spot the sky?

I was tempted…. really tempted, to slide back down under the duvet for the duration, but thankfully hunger got the better of me. The house was cosy and warm, so I had a quick shower, donned the layers and headed for the kitchen.

Our snow was more a nuisance than anything else.  Pretty for an hour but that was all. It made several attempts throughout Wednesday to fall, but the ground was wet and the snow had nothing to stick to. Once the sun disappeared the ground froze so overnight snow had a base to stick to. Trying to drive downhill with the road camber not helping, add the ice and I can tell you it is no G&T!

I had no need to go outside the door

A day of indoor sports was called for, and I had a choice: a bundle of sewing repairs and alterations, some crochet, baking and a jigsaw.

Sewing repairs are complete and the ironing is now up to date. The scones are eaten or in the freezer and I lit the fire early and pulled up the table with the jigsaw. The crochet is in progress and should keep me busy for a week or so.

With the jigsaw I travelled the world. It was fun.

Several times this winter we have had warnings of snow. I do realise I am fortunate and there are parts of Ireland (North and South) that suffered with school and road closures. I was well prepared and stocked up, I am happy to stay indoors and keep warm.

That passport looks a bit out of date. I think you need to renew it ASAP!

I’m glad the snow has been so sparse in Belfast. I was In Omagh recently and there was plenty of snow and ice to contend with there.

Nick, do you know a Mr G A Walton? If so tell him I have his passport! We never get ‘real’ snow – the white powdery kind, maybe that is why I dislike it so much. You stay safe as you travel about.

Gerlinde, I always have two lists: ‘Need to do’ & ‘Want to do’, the latter are the fun stuff!

Not all puzzles are completed in a day. Sometimes I set one up on a side table and add a couple of pieces each time I pass by.

Well done to spend the day indoors catching up and recharging. My parents had a piece of luggage that looked just like that ~ now suitcases aren’t suitable for stickers.

No, Nancy, it is many a long year since I saw a case like that. How travel has changed- at one time a passport was stamped at every border you crossed, Do they do that nowadays?

The daylight was perfect for my tired old eyes to sew, the oven warmed inside and out and the jigsaw added some fun.I started another one today. You stay warm, my friend.

I agree, Shackman. Today was a mix of sunshine, wind and hailstones. I hibernated again today and with fingers crossed, made arrangements for the incoming week.

After weeks of sun and dry…we finally have done a little of the wet stuff, in fact fast and furiouis was the name of the day, today – then it returned to overcast, some drizzle and bits of light stuff – probably won’t make a dent in the garden though…
