A one hour lesson on the history of Ireland with plenty of beautiful scenery to enjoy. The programme was made in 1997 so we have moved on a little since then.
All the rain we endure is the price we pay for the greenery.

Yay GREENERY.. And yay rain too. We don’t get nearly enough in New Mexico, USA.
I’ve started to watch the Irish History video but need to be busy before settling in to see it all.
BHB, if you had to live under dull dark skies with rain day and day out for weeks on end, you might not be so happy about it. An April shower is always welcome, but winter rain is a horse of a different colour!
I have my evening mapped out, so I just scrolled through the video. Perhaps I’ll have a chance to watch the full hour soon.
I did LOVE the music at the end of the video.
I’m reading a book set in Ireland at the moment:

Nancy, I had not heard of that book before. I checked your link and listened to the clip, it was enough to put me off the story, the accents were so forced and unreal! One character jumped from Northern Irish to Southern Ireland and North of England all in one sentence. Have you read any of Maeve Binchy’s books?
I finished the book last night. It had good points and bad.
The accents were HORRIBLE!!!
I enjoyed the growth of the characters from unsympathetic to sympathetic.
I have read Maeve Binchy. Much better.
I kinda grew up with Maeve Binchy’s work, she was a regular on the radio and had a column in the Irish Times for years. one of the books is a collection of those stories.
Fabulous. I hope to be able to visit again.
If i had a penny for every time you said that….!
Fabulous video…just watched the whole thing. I love documentaries and this gave me a whole new perspective.
Glad you enjoyed it, Al. Here is another one about an hour long: Visions of Europe – Ireland – 15 of 16 http://youtu.be/bwLcG6zG3Kc
Oh Irish history. Such wonderful tales.
Glad you enjoyed it, Dianne.
I need to block out the time to see this!
Brighid, it will be there when you have the time.
