Dear Handsome Prince,

For many years I have lain sleepless in my lonely bed with only spiders for pillow friends.

Maybe my being awake is the reason for your non-appearance to kiss me gently on the cheek before whisking me off to your enchanted palace.

I fear the gifts of beauty, wit, grace, dance, song, and music presented to me as an infant princess, by my fairy godmothers, are fading fast.

Last night I did manage three sleeps…. Rather a miracle for me, so perhaps you could tip toe in my direction tonight.

I do make good cakes and treats and chocolate truffles worthy of a prince.

At this stage my garden is so over grown that you may well have passed by thinking it was a setting for Game of Thrones, the Vikings or some other modern day TV epic!

I do realise that like me, age is catching up with you too. Yesterday and again today, I spent time in the wilderness of my garden clearing a narrow pathway of brambles to ease your journey to my bedside.

Clearing brambles

Yours hopefully!

Princess Grannymar

A couple of days of blue skies and glorious sunshine have tempted me outside. One hour work followed by an hour resting and a final hour in the afternoon is enough bending for me right now. The rain is to return tomorrow with a dip in temperatures , but hopefully things will warm up again next week.

Surprising the thoughts that drift through when bent double and struggling with brambles! Better than moaning about the thorns in my fingers!

May the Prince appear soon in his shining armour and riding on his white steed and carry you away to his palace where you would be able to sleep.

This is good GM. Never thought all that spring cleaning was to lure a prince into my chambers. Don’t know how David will feel about that, but I’m not going to ask him. I am engaging his help in the big cleanup, however.

The webs round here could stretch world wide! They are great for catching flies but not much else! 🙁

That spider on your pillow is EXACTLY like, a relative to, the ones I have here, far away in the USA. How did that happen??? I don’t kill any of them so I’m propagating that race of spider. 🙂

The only way I can sleep is to be so tired that I stagger to bed, hoping I don’t fall over myself. Sometimes that doesn’t work. Also I have a container by the bed for peeing. The bathroom is too far away. Don’t tell anybody.

That was a very large spider for our part of the world, We somehow imported a different speices with bananas a few years ago. I removed him to the great outdoors well away from the house.
