Six days after Mid Summer’s Day
A great improvement from 10.10hrs this morning when I drove on a single carriageway through enveloping mist that hid the countryside. Thankfully I was familiar with the route. The idiot in the white van behind me was so impatient that on two occasions I used my hazard lights to make him pull back! On a single carriageway with cars in front of me, I have no idea where he expected me to go.
I am sitting in the shade with a jug of water and some needlework to keep me quiet!
Some motorists are incomprehensible. I’m amazed at the number of cars that roar past me at about 60 on the run-up to a roundabout. What’s the point except to show what a superior car they’ve got?
Nick, my worst nightmare was one day travelling on the M2 towards the Westlink when a car in the furthest lane of the M3 crossed crab-like directly in front of me to the off slip for Corporation St. He was a car length from the limit to the slip road. 5 LANES! Thankfully it was a dry day and I had my wits about me.
That happened to me on many country roads in Britain. I was as surprised as you were with the van. Anyway, enjoy the summer.
I think we are promised a few more days like this. 30 – 35°C in London.
I hate it when drivers do that to me. Keep your distance, I say.
Gigi, I usually tip my breaks, today because of the white fog, I used the hazard lights.
When I was in Ireland, it was July & I about froze. 21 C. is about 70 F. Are you complaining about heat?!
No BHB, I am not complaining. 21°C/70°F is just perfect for my body. If it went much higher I would wilt like a wet lettuce! July is often a cold wet month over here. Seasons in ireland are a law unto themselves.
We went from 10C to 25C throughout the course of the day. The wind kept things a bit fresh. I hate those kinds of drivers, right up the arse, I think they’re basically unaware combined with a severe case of stoopids, thing is when they kill themselves they take us with them.
WWW, I am a day late in replying, It was difficult last night, even with windows open it was airless and sleep elusive. Dull with headachy dead heat again today at 23°C, but the clouds are beginning to part and the sun is hopefully about to grace our day. As for the White van brigade, most of them are driving vehicles they do not own or had to pay for!
Enjoy your gorgeous temps!
Yesterday was wonderful. Today is hard work for my ticker, Shade and slow pace are the order of my day!
Heat ! … Phew ! … I never thought that I would enjoy shopping in Sainsbury’s, but .. Ah ! all that air conditioning is wonderful. … 🙂
I feel your pain, John, 36.7°C/98.06°F in London today, It would be too much for me. I walked through Sainsbury’s yesterday and was shivering in the chill aisles. I need to buy a new body thermostat. :sads:
about 10 days ago parts of New Zealand made huge records of 0 degrees and down to minus [-] in front of a number – even up here parts of this region started day at “zero” unheard of – slide to this week and it’s warm as for dull wintertime
18°C to 20°C expected here today and hoping the rain & Thunder promised for Wimbledon stays over the little pond! I am off in search of a sailor or three … the Tall Ships are in Belfast until Sunday!
Ooh I love Tall Ships – all that ‘heave away’ and rigging.
Immensely jealous of your warm sunny weather – 4c overnight up to 12c tomorrow with rain. They say (and I certainly can attest to it) that this is the coldest winter in Victoria for years. Not wishing my life away BUT warmer days would be great.
Oh Gm we also have our fair share of ‘silly bug**s’ on the roads – not nice when they are driving alongside you.
Home again Cathy and ready to give my report. The day was bright and sunny, just right for adventure.
The White Van Man! Not one of my guys, we only work below the border. Lucky for you as these guys are just as crazy 🙂
I am wishing for heat, and sunshine, and not getting much of it except while working (I work in a warehouse and do lots of heavy lifting). Sorry it was making you suffer!
White Van Man was yesterdays problem, today was fun all the way. Happy cheerful people enjoying the spectacle and the sunshine and I believe there was free ice cream too!
Looking forward to the post!
It has gone live in the past few minutes.
Ah, I was just going to do the cat post I never did 🙂 Must go see instead!!
