Art with my needle ~ Update

Long gone are the Wednesdays when my regular posts on needlework – either in progress or completed were shared here (I suppose you could say that about all the usual areas of posting).

Well the needles have been active in the background so look forward to a few items turning up here in the weeks to come.

To begin with, I got round to re framing & re-instating The Lady*’!

Before doing so I decided to spring clean the Bathroom. Now you have all seen my bathroom in the past so there is no need to blush.

I replaced the radiator, removed the old faded curtains, made some new ones, but before hanging them, my attention turned to some emulsion for the ceiling, cleaning the wall tiles and tackling the bath…

Yes. I had to clean my shoes** before I cleaned the bath

Bath buns

I find Bath buns*** always help! 😉 After that the bath sparkled like new. I picked some new towels to tone with ‘my lady’.

All fresh and clean

All I needed were little ties to keep my curtains in place. Little things often cause me problems, so there was plenty of  ferniggling to achieve the look I wanted.

I began with crochet flowers and then tried butterflies

With the light behind the window, it was difficult to see the new ties. The curtains are a double layer threaded over a pole and the top layer gathered into the ties. For the moment I have it solved.

So finally finished you can see the lady back in place.

Overall a lovely post and while the chasing the links did take time, it was worth the while. The ties are lovely. The new look to the blog is also very appealing.

Thank you Ramana. There are several new readers who might like to know the story behing several photos. The butterflies will have their season and I may then go down another route.

Did you notice the Sunset Halo? That prompted me to make a change.

After many attempts, the butterflies worked for the moment. Butterflies should be lighter… finer thread perhaps but matching the colours was difficult.

I’m not sure why, but your posts are all appearing in my Reader a good 12-24 hours after they’ve gone up. So I’m scrolling backwards to find out what I’ve missed out on! She’s the perfect nymph for your bathroom decor!

All my own work, Kate, from about twenty five years ago. I notice the slowness in updates too, sometimes they are twenty fours later.

I had to laugh, we truly were separated at birth. All my curtain ties are knitted. Everybody comments on how unusual and pretty. LOL. I’m still laughing. Lovely job there missus. The tiles in your bathroom are exactly what was in my Toronto bathroom.

😆 We do have some similar interests in the ‘crafts’ section of our lives. All my curtains are my own work, I am not really a tie-back person so struggled with these. I now have another idea for the bathroom ties… when I find the right yarn or cord!

The tiles. they have been there since the bungalow was built. I liked them when I moved in 39 years ago and I still like them today. They work for me, so why change them? In the past you will have noticed the same pattern in yellow in my kitchen.
