Clearly you don’t like X rays, X Box, xistentialism or xenophobia.
Are you in favour of yarn bombing?
How right you are Nick, none of those ‘X’s appeal to me.
As for yarn bombing, it may look interesting when well done, but I find it a waste of good useful yarn. Better to gather the oddments and make a colourful blanket for a homeless person.
What a great list. You’ve inspired me to make my own, which will brighten up my day. Thank you!
Glad to have given you some inspiration, Tom.
great list – makes you think about what you do appreciate and why – even you had a problem with X – what about just “xyz” or shorthand x-stitch… or try this page: http://phrontistery.info/x.html
Yes Cathy, I admit I had a problem with X, to me that meant there were few words beginning with X that quickly came to my mind. The shorthand ‘x-stitch’ appeared in full under C, it is something I really enjoy, I did follow your link, words like that are not in my normal lexicon, Far too many syllables to jump about for my comfort, more suitable for Ramana with his love of long and unusual words. 😉 I did read the full list and their definitions, not one of them popped up as something I would actually like.
I think there was one I liked – something about pirates!
I think ‘xebec’ meaning a small three-masted pirate ship, is the one you mean. I never saw a real pirate ship and do not use words for the sake of them. My list was not about words, it was about actual items I like. A five minute quick fire post.
I think I like pirates – fictional more than current…yep ‘xebec’ – of course that sound like a type of medicine rather a pirate ship 🙂
Surely XXXX count as kisses, which I’m sure you have and will continue to enjoy…?
Kate, for you and I ‘XXXX’ might mean kisses, but to people like my Melbourne brother… a Brisbane brewer might come to mind and set him worrying about his sister. 😆 Hugs are more usual these days from friends. Living alone reduces the opportunity for kisses but this summer I’ll have plenty of opportunities to remedy that. 🙂
Rock scrambling with your hips? I am surprised at xylophone. It is not a very common or a popular instrument. I also wondered about the yellow man till I saw the explanation. Otherwise, quite a nice and interesting list.
Ramana, I may not be able to do the Can Can, but I can scramble over rocks at the seashore – with care always hopeful to find more than my reflection in the rock pools. I first heard a xylophone played when I was thirteen, by the father of one of the pupils at our school. I loved it immediately: the sound was gentle and easy on my ears.
An eclectic list! We have a goodly number of things in common too, at least one for each letter except U. Now you’ve set me thinking of a U I could put in a similar list….. 🙂
Sally, I think I was running out of steam with ‘U’. 😆
